Armed bandits have killed no fewer than 30 persons in attacks on villages in Dutsinma and Safana Local Government Areas of Katsina State.
The affected villages are Tashar Kawai Mai Zurfi, Sabon Gari Unguwar Banza, Dogon Ruwa, Sanawar Kurecen Dutsi, Unguwar Bera, Kuricin Kulawa, Larabar Tashar Mangoro, Sabaru, Ashata, Unguwar Ido, Kanbiri, Kunamawar Mai Awaki and Kunamawar ‘Yargandu.
According to the Daily Trust, the villages were said to have been attacked on Tuesday.
The bandits were said to have launched a fresh attack Thursday on Dogon Ruwa, ‘Yar Kuka, Rimi, Lezumawa and other villages.
The attacks forced residents to flee and seek refuge in Dutsinma town and Turare village.
The spokesman of the State Police Command, Abubakar Sadiq, confirmed the attack to newsmen on Friday.
“Yes it is true but I don’t have the details of the Safana LGA’s incident. I will get back to you shortly please,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Deputy Speaker of the Katsina State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Abduljalal Haruna Runka, visited his constituency in Runka to condole with the families of Malam Rabe B.B.C Runka, Alhaji Amadi Runka, and Malam Dan’lami Rogoji Runka over the death of their sons: Bishir Abdullahi (Mai Daura), Shu’aibu Rabe (BBC) Runka and Gaddafi Dan’lami Rogoji Runka, in the attack.
