Elon Musk’s father has confirmed that the billionaire entrepreneur is interested in purchasing Liverpool FC, the Premier League football club.

Musk, the owner of Tesla, SpaceX, and X, with a net worth estimated at $418 billion, seems to be exploring the world of football to expand his business empire.

In a recent interview with Times Radio in London, a reporter asked Errol Musk about his son’s potential bid for Liverpool FC.

“Has he expressed a desire to buy Liverpool Football Club?” the reporter inquired.

“I can’t comment on that. They’ll raise the price,” replied Errol, father of the world’s richest man, laughing.

When asked again, Errol Musk acknowledged that his son has indeed shown interest in acquiring the club.

“Oh, yes. But that doesn’t mean he’s buying it,” he clarified. “He would like to, yes, obviously. Anybody would want to – so would I!”

Asked why Elon Musk is particularly drawn to Liverpool, his father shared that the family has deep-rooted connections to the city.

“His grandmother was born in Liverpool, and we had relatives there. We were fortunate to know quite a lot of the Beatles because they grew up with some of my family. So, we are attached to Liverpool, you know,” he explained to Times Radio.

Musk has previously described his grandmother, who was born in 1923 and passed away in 2011, as a significant influence on his childhood. He recalled spending time in Merseyside as a young child during holidays.

“My Nana was one of the poor working-class girls with no one to protect her who might have been abducted in present-day Britain,” he shared on X.

“She was very strict, but also kind, and I could always count on her. She grew up very poor in England during the Great Depression and was bombed in WWII,” he added. “To earn money for food, she cleaned houses, leaving me with a lasting respect for those who do so.”

The South African-born Tesla CEO has also expressed pride in his British/English roots, stating that he comes from that background, not an Afrikaner one.
