An Iyaganku Chief Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan, Oyo State has ordered the remand of five persons in a correctional facility over the alleged attempted murder of their neighbour.

The five suspects; Aliu Hammed (23) Molomo Tairu (20) Haruna Isiaq(25) Abdullahi Isiaq (22) and Abdulmumini Idris (25) were said to have attempted to murder one Abdulqadri Soliu.

The defendants were arraigned on two counts of conspiracy and attempted murder on Friday, August 23, 2024.

The prosecuting counsel, Inspector Femi Oluwadare said the defendants conspired together to commit the offences.

“The defendants on August 3rd 2024 at Alaraba Village, via Orile- Igbon, attempted to cause the death of Abdulqadri Soliu, who is their neighbour by slaughtering him with a knife on his neck,” Oluwadare said.

He added that the offences contravened sections 320 and 324 of the Criminal Code Laws of Oyo State 2000.

However, the presiding Magistrate, Mr M. Mudashiru did not take their plea over lack of jurisdiction and he ordered that they should be remanded at Agodi Correctional facility, Ibadan.

He, thereafter, adjourned the case until October 21st 2024 for mention.
