Gunmen Kidnap Five Farmers in Kwara Community

Gunmen have abducted five farmers, including a mother and daughter, in Odo-Eku, a community in the Isin Local Government Area of Kwara State.

The attack occurred in the early hours of Wednesday, January 15, 2025, when the assailants stormed the community and took their victims to an undisclosed location. Elder Ogundeji, the Odofin of Odo-Eku, confirmed the incident, stating that the victims were Hausa farmers living in the area. Among them were a woman, her daughter, a female visitor, and two men.

The Kwara State Police Command was alerted to the situation. According to the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), “At approximately 1:15 AM on January 15, 2025, five individuals—two men and three women—were abducted from the Odo-Eku Camp in Odo-Eku Community, Isin LGA. The victims have been taken to an unknown location. Police and vigilante forces have already been deployed and are actively working on a rescue mission. Updates will follow as the situation develops.”

Community leaders shared that the police had visited the site of the abduction and promised to investigate. “The police assured us they will do everything to rescue the victims,” said Ogundeji.

Since the abduction, local vigilante groups, joined by members from surrounding communities, have been scouring nearby forests in search of the missing farmers.
