The Borno State Police Command has apprehended Muhammad Idrissa, a member of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), for allegedly providing cooking ingredients to Boko Haram insurgents.

According to ASP Nahum Daso, the command’s spokesperson, Idrissa’s arrest on December 31 followed intelligence reports about his activities. Daso mentioned that Idrissa would soon face prosecution in court.

In an interview with The Punch, Idrissa confessed to his involvement, stating that he was assisting his younger brother, a member of Boko Haram. “I started recently and have only supplied them five times. I usually provide items like Maggi, cooking oil, salt, and pepper,” he said.

Idrissa elaborated on his connection to the CJTF before his arrest. “I was a member of the Civilian Joint Task Force before I was arrested. I would give my younger brother the items, and he would take them to the camp where he stays with other Boko Haram members.”

He added, “I don’t have any other reason for doing this. I was only helping my younger brother, knowing that they lack access to these items where they are.”

When asked about his arrest, Idrissa said, “I was at home when the police called me to come to the station, and upon arriving, I was arrested.”
