A notorious motorcycle robber has been arrested by the local security operatives for k!lling two commercial motorcyclists and stealing their bikes in Akoko North Local Government Area of Ondo State.
The suspect was apprehended by the local security men at Akunnu Akoko, a border town between Ondo and Kogi state while attempting to flee with one of the motorcycles.
The suspect was said to have k!lled the two motorcycle riders separately, stole their bikes and left them to die in the bush
It was gathered that one of the Okada riders identified as Dada Jatto, 28, from Iyani Akoko, was lured into a bush by assailants where they k!lled him and left his remains.
A source in the community said Jatto, a father of two, was declared missing for three days but his decomposed remains were discovered on Tuesday by a search party.
“Jatto was reported to be missing for about three days and we organized a search party for him. We, however, discovered his mutilated body with his damaged phone along Arigidi Akoko and One Agbe road, but without his motorcycle,” the source explained.
The second commercial Okada rider, an Hausa man, was lured from Ikare Akoko to the hideout along Arigidi road where they hit him with a sledgehammer on his head.
“The young man was unconscious and his motorcycle was taken away too but he was found unconscious by some people and we took him to the hospital for medical treatment,” the source said.
“He was able to explain what happened and give the description of the notorious motorcycle snatcher but we discovered he had left the town.
“We decided to trace him and he was apprehended at a border town between Ondo and Kogi state, around Akunnu Akoko, with the motorcycle,”
He said the suspect was trying to flee after he k!lled the two victims and snatched their motorcycles.
The source however, disclosed that the victim died a few hours after the suspect was arrested by the vigilante group.
The spokesperson of the State Police Command, Funmi Odunlami, confirmed the incident on Wednesday.
Odunlami said one of the cases was reported and investigation had commenced into the incident.
She assured that other culprits would be arrested and will be brought before a court of law.
