The Ogun State Police Command has arrested a suspected ritualist, Kehinde Yemitan, the twin brother of Taiwo Yemitan, who was arrested with the fresh head and dismembered body parts of a female victim.
It will be recalled that police arrested Taiwo on Sunday, December 22, 2024, in his home behind Atinsola petrol station in the Sanni area of Abeokuta.
The suspect admitted to luring the victim identified as Darasimi, to his residence where he, along with his twin brother, Kehinde and one Kazeem, k!lled her.
The spokesperson of the command, SP Omolola Odutola, who confirmed the development in a statement on Tuesday, December 31, said the suspect was arrested on Monday following a tip off received from a volunteer informant indicating that he was hiding in Ilogbo community.
Odutola reiterated the command’s commitment to raising public awareness about the perennial risk associated with young females engaging in hookup.
The PPRO further advised young women to consider a sustainable means of income.
“On December 30, 2024, at about 1700hrs, the Divisional Police Officer of Sango Ota received a tip from a volunteer informant indicating that Kehinde Yemitian, the twin brother of Taiwo Yemitian, was hiding in the Ilogbo community,” the statement read.
“The Police launched a manhunt for Kehinde in connection with murder and the mutilation of the head of one Darasimi ‘f’ surname unknown on the 22nd of December, 2024 when his twin brother Taiwo YEMITAN and Kazeem ‘m’ was arrested at about 0140hrs by the Divisional Police Officer of Lafenwa after the duo lured their victim Darasimi a night sex worker in Abeokuta to their house for ritual purposes
“Following this information, a surveillance team, in collaboration with the So Safe Corps, promptly mobilized to the community and apprehended the suspect.
“He admitted to conspiring with others to carry out the crime in Abeokuta.
“Several community members also confirmed his involvement in criminal activities.”
“Kehinde Yemitian has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for discreet investigation.
“Emphasizing the dangers of the hookup culture of which the Police Public Relations Department of Ogun State Police Command has been raising public awareness about the perennial risk associated with young females engaging in casual friendship with strange men for pecuniary and desperate purposes, and further reiterate to consider a sustainable means of income.
“More updates will be made available as soon as it becomes apparent. A further appeal goes to the teeming young females to see this unfortunate incident as a big lesson and be cautious not to fall victim to another ritual killing.”
