On Tuesday, June 20, President Bola Tinubu gave his approval for the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria to be returned to the Office of the Vice President for supervision. This decision aligns with the respective establishment Acts governing these agencies. Previously, NEMA had been under the purview of the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management, and Social Development since its inception in August 2019. The announcement of this development was made by Olusola Abiola, the Director of Information at the Office of the Vice President. Additionally, the President also authorized the establishment of a formal structure for the Office of the Vice President, along with an appropriate number of technical and administrative aides to support the Vice President in carrying out his responsibilities.
Tinubu has decided to transfer the Hajj Commission and NEMA back to the Vice President’s office.
