Two nurses working at Chuene Clinic, located outside Polokwane, were reportedly abducted and assaulted by an unknown assailant in the early hours of Friday, January 10. The incident has prompted a police investigation into the violent attack.
According to police spokesperson Brigadier Hlulani Mashaba, the attack occurred around 12:30 a.m. when the suspect entered the clinic premises through the guardroom, where three security guards were stationed. The assailant allegedly bound two of the guards and forced the female guard to accompany him into the clinic.
Inside the clinic, the suspect found two nurses, aged 47 and 28, and robbed them of their cellphones. He then took them to a nearby bush, leaving the female guard behind. Mashaba stated, “He instructed them to undress, assaulted them, and then fled the scene. The nurses were able to walk back to the clinic and were later taken to a hospital for treatment.”
Limpopo police commissioner, Lt-Gen Thembi Hadebe, has strongly condemned the attack and has ordered a special team to investigate the crime and ensure the swift apprehension of the perpetrator.
