We are not behind Monday, Tuesday sit-at-home – IPOB

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has denied issuing a sit-at-home order for October 21 and 22 in any part of Southeastern Nigeria.

The pro-Biafra group stated that it always publicly announces such directives and urged the public to disregard commands from criminals allegedly attempting to undermine IPOB’s reputation.

Commercial activities in Aba, Abia State, and other Southeastern states were disrupted on October 21 due to a sit-at-home reportedly called by suspected pro-Biafra factions, with schools, banks, and markets remaining closed as of Monday morning.

In a statement from IPOB’s Media and Publicity Secretary, Comrade Emma Powerful, the group clarified that it does not enforce sit-at-home orders without a valid reason.

“IPOB did not order a two-day sit-at-home, and we do not wish to cause panic over inconsequential directives from infiltrators,” he stated. “We have chosen not to issue a press statement regarding these unfounded orders. IPOB does not threaten Ndigbo. When we declare a sit-at-home, it is made public. Our people should ignore these malicious commands from criminals aiming to tarnish the peaceful image of the IPOB movement.”
