Two employees, Ebenezer Olusesi, 31, and Ibrahim Adeniyi, 41, of FoodCo’s Ring Road branch, appeared in court on Monday, accused of stealing two loaves of bread valued at N2,600 from their workplace. Olusesi, a baker, and Adeniyi, a security guard, both pleaded not guilty to the charge of theft. The prosecution, represented by Cpl. David Adepoju, alleged that the defendants collaborated in committing the theft on April 28. According to Adepoju, the stolen items belonged to FoodCo Company, located on Ring Road, Ibadan, represented by Friday Achibong. The alleged theft is said to violate sections 390 (a) and 516 of the Criminal Code Laws of Oyo State 2000. Chief Magistrate Olabisi Ogunkanmi granted bail to the defendants in the sum of N50,000 each, with two sureties each required to meet the same amount. One of the sureties must be a relative, and both must provide tax evidence for the past two years. The case was adjourned until August 15 for further proceedings.
