The investigative panel established by Minister of Interior Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo to examine allegations that cross-dresser Idris Okuneye, known as Bobrisky, served his six-month jail term in a private apartment rather than a custodial center has concluded that the claims are unfounded.
Uju Agomoh, Executive Director and founder of Prisoners’ Rehabilitation and Welfare Action (PRAWA) and a panel member, stated that there was no evidence supporting the assertion that Bobrisky stayed outside the prison during his sentence from April 12, 2024, to August 5, 2024.
“The panel did not find any evidence suggesting Mr. Okuneye slept outside the custodial center during his imprisonment,” Agomoh told Vanguard. She clarified that Bobrisky served his correctional sentence with the typical remissions for such cases, although investigations revealed that he enjoyed certain privileges while incarcerated.
The panel was inaugurated by Minister Tunji-Ojo in Abuja on September 30, following the release of an audio by VDM in which Bobrisky claimed to have spent his sentence in a flat near the prison.
