Tragically, a Nigerian medical student known simply as Ikem was reportedly brutally killed by a group of Chinese individuals in the Philippines.
This heart-wrenching incident was brought to light by a close friend of the deceased, Michael Ojuola, who shared the distressing news on X on Sunday, October 22, 2023. Ojuola’s post conveyed the horrific details of the incident: “A Nigerian Medical Student named Ikem, studying in the Republic of the Philippines, was mercilessly murdered by a group of Chinese. They bound his hands, gagged him, and subjected him to a relentless, fatal beating. This heinous act should not be allowed to go unnoticed, irrespective of the diplomatic relations between the Philippines and China.”
Ojuola expressed the profound shock and distress caused by videos of the incident that he had received from the hospital, saying, “This is an act of extreme inhumanity and barbarism. I can hardly think straight at the moment, given the horrifying nature of these videos.”
In his plea for justice, Ojuola called upon the President of the Nigerians In Diaspora Commission, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, and other relevant authorities to thoroughly investigate this grave case.
