A 42-year-old Kenyan woman residing in Busia county is calling for the arrest of her husband, whom she accuses of subjecting her to domestic abuse.
Metrine Okumu revealed that she sustained severe injuries to her face and chest following an assault by her husband. Speaking to the media at Busia County and Referral Hospital, where she was hospitalized after the incident, Okumu recounted that the abuse began after her husband went to a local bar with another woman. Upon her visit to the bar to request money for food, Okumu stated that her husband and the unidentified woman attacked her, inflicting multiple blows and leaving her severely injured. She further alleged that they also poured alcohol on her during the assault.
With a visibly swollen face, Okumu expressed her anguish, stating, “I went to ask him for money to buy food, and he was seated with another woman drinking alcohol. They poured the alcohol on me and then began to beat me.”
Despite having concealed previous incidents of abuse to protect her husband, Okumu now demands his arrest to prevent further harm upon her return home.
