The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Abia State Command, has apprehended four individuals for operating an illegal refinery within the state. Usman Alfadarai, the State Commandant, stated that the arrests were the result of a 48-hour sustained surveillance conducted in and around Obiakpu, Obuzo-Asa, in the Ukwa West area of Abia State.

Describing the operation as a significant advancement in the broader fight against various forms of vandalism, including illegal dealings in petroleum products and other acts of economic sabotage, Alfadarai emphasized its importance in safeguarding critical national assets and infrastructure.

Alfadarai remarked, “This proactive move, occurring within a week of my assumption of duty as the Abia State commandant, sends a strong message to vandals. They are urged to either change their ways or face relocation from the state, as the corps remains unwavering in its commitment to deny any respite to those who threaten the Nigerian economy.”
