Evan Ellingson, a former child actor best known for his role in the 2009 film “My Sister’s Keeper,” has passed away at the age of 35.

According to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department’s coroners division, Ellingson was discovered deceased in a bedroom at his residence in Fontana, California, on Sunday, November 5, at 11:31 a.m. The cause of his death has not yet been determined.

TMZ reported that Ellingson’s father disclosed that the actor had been grappling with addiction and passed away in a sober-living facility.

One of Ellingson’s most iconic performances was as Jesse in the 2009 cancer drama “My Sister’s Keeper,” where he starred alongside a cast that included Cameron Diaz, Alec Baldwin, Abigail Breslin, and Jason Patric.

Despite not appearing on screen for over a decade, Ellingson’s noteworthy credits include playing the son of David Caruso’s Lt. Horatio Caine on “CSI: Miami” and the nephew of Kiefer Sutherland’s Jack Bauer on “24.”

According to his IMDb biography, the actor was raised in La Verne, California, alongside his three brothers and was “discovered at a skate park, where he was not only asked to skate for the Vans PeeWee team but also to appear in a commercial for the Vans Company.”
