Introducing Acting Inspector-General of Police: Kayode Egbetokun
Meet Kayode Egbetokun, the newly appointed Acting Inspector-General of Police. Born on September 4, 1964, in Erinja, Yewa South Local Government Area of Ogun State, he embarked on his journey in the Nigeria Police Force on March 3, 1990, as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police.
Egbetokun’s impressive career includes serving as the Chief Security Officer to Senator Bola Tinubu, the Governor of Lagos State, in 1999. Throughout his tenure, he has held several notable positions, including Commander of the Rapid Response Squad in Lagos, Squadron Commander of Mopol 5 in Benin City, Officer-in-Charge of the Anti-Fraud Unit at FCT Command in Abuja, Chief Superintendent of Police in Administration at the Lagos State Command Headquarters in Ikeja, Area Commander in Osogbo, Osun State Command, and Area Commander in Gusau, Zamfara State Command, among others.
Academically, Egbetokun graduated from the University of Lagos, Akoka, Yaba, Lagos, in June 1987, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics. Prior to joining the Police Force, he briefly lectured Mathematics at Yaba College of Technology, Lagos. He furthered his education with a Master’s degree in Engineering Analysis from the University of Lagos in 1996. He also holds a Post-Graduate Diploma in Petroleum Economics from Delta State University, Abraka, and an MBA from Lagos State University, Ojo, which he obtained in 2004.
Kayode Egbetokun is a dedicated family man, married with children. His diverse background and extensive experience make him a valuable addition to the leadership of the Nigeria Police Force in ensuring the safety and security of the nation.
