The Jigawa State Police Command has taken into custody a 17-year-old boy, Abdulmuminu Tasi’u, for defrauding a Point of Sale (POS) vendor of the sum of N900,000 in the Maigatari Local Government Area of the state.
The spokesperson of the command, DSP Lawan Shiisu Adam, confirmed the arrest in a statement over the weekend, stating that the suspect has acknowledged his involvement in the offense. Following the completion of the investigation, he will face charges in court.
“On 03/01/24 at about 1400hrs, one Aminu Mustafa ‘m’ age 38yrs of Unguwar Dodo quarters Maigatari LGA, who is a Point of Sale (POS) vendor, reported at Maigatari Police Station that, on the same date at about 1245hrs, an unknown person came to his POS shop to withdraw money. After providing the POS Machine, the individual fraudulently used it to transfer the sum of Nine Hundred Thousand Naira (N900,000.00k) into his account,” the statement reads.
“Upon receiving the information, Police on patrol were alerted, and fortunately, one Abdulmuminu Tasi’u ‘m’ age 17yrs of Adakawa quarters, Dala LGA, Kano State, was apprehended and brought to the Station for investigation.
“During interrogation, the suspect admitted to the commission of the offense.”
