NECO reports a pass rate of 61% for candidates as it unveils the results for 2023.

The National Examination Council (NECO) has officially published the results of the 2023 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) internal.

During a press conference held in Minna on Tuesday, October 10, Prof. Dantani Wushishi, the Registrar of NECO, disclosed that the overall result summary indicates that 61.6 percent of candidates achieved a pass, securing five credits, which include English and Mathematics.

A total of 1,205,888 candidates registered for the examination, with 1,196,985 actually sitting for the exams. In terms of gender distribution, 616,398 were male candidates, while 580,587 were females.

Out of the candidates who appeared for the exams, 737,308 achieved five credits or more, encompassing English and Mathematics. Additionally, 1,013,611 candidates, constituting 84.68 percent, secured five credits irrespective of whether they included English and Mathematics.

Prof. Dantani Wushishi further provided the gender-based breakdown, stating, “The number of candidates registered for the examination is 1,205,888, representing 621,084 males and 584,804 females.”
