“Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, has taken action to revoke the ownership of 165 land plots in various serviced districts of the Federal Capital City due to a lack of development.
This decision was communicated through a statement issued by the Director of Information and Communication at the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), Muhammad Hazat Sule.
The Minister’s revocation of these plots comes as a result of violations of the terms of Rights of Occupancy, which were found to be in breach of the agreements outlined in the 1978 Land Use Act.
Sule explained that the affected plots were owned by both corporate entities and individuals who consistently failed to adhere to the terms of their agreements, as specified in Section 28(5)(a) & (b) of the Land Use Act.
These 165 plots are located in various districts within the Federal Capital City, including the Central Business District, Maitama (A05); Maitama (A06); Wuse II (A08); Gudu (B01); Wuye (B03); Jabi (B04); Utako (B05); Katampe Extension (B19); Idu Industrial Area (C16); and Asokoro (A04) districts.
In accordance with his authority under Section 28(5)(a) & (b) of the Land Use Act 1978, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory has revoked these titles due to their ongoing violation of the terms of Right of Occupancy, particularly the failure to develop the land as stipulated.”
