Okey Ahiwe emerges victorious in the Abia PDP governorship primary election.

Chief Okey Ahiwe, the former Chief of Staff to Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State, has emerged as the winner of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship primary election in the state.

The primary election was held to determine the PDP candidate for the 2023 general election, following the passing of the previously selected candidate, Professor Uche Ikonne.

Governor Godwin Obaseki, who served as the Chairman of the PDP Primary Election Committee, announced the results of the election as follows: a total of 516 votes were cast, with Chief Okey Ahiwe receiving 469 votes, Rt Hon Ude Oko Chukwu receiving 12 votes, Don Lulu receiving 12 votes, and Samson Orji receiving 11 votes.
