The Gombe State Police Command has apprehended Ahmadu Ibrahim and his accomplices for their alleged involvement in the kidnapping and killing of a 17-year-old student. The arrests were made after the victim’s father, Alhaji Ahmadu Yaya of Arawa Quarters Gombe, filed a formal complaint with the police.
According to ASP Mahid Muazu Abubakar, the spokesperson for the command, the arrests followed a report made by the distraught father on October 30, 2023. The father stated that he received a call from unknown individuals demanding a ransom of N5 million for the release of his son, Al Amin Alhaji Ahmadu, who had gone missing after leaving home on an errand.
Upon receiving the complaint, the Anti-Kidnapping Unit of the Command, led by the O/C Anti Kidnapping, initiated an investigation. It was revealed that Ahmadu Ibrahim, an employee at a rice mill company under the victim’s father, was the mastermind behind the kidnapping.
Subsequent investigations led to the arrest of Ahmadu Ibrahim and additional suspects, identified as Ahmadu Ibrahim Bello (25 years old), Babuka Mohammed Abubakar (35 years old), Abdulsalam Mohammed (28 years old), and Muhammadu Abubakar (28 years old), all of Liji Quarters Gombe.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, the suspects are in custody and will be charged to court for prosecution. Ahmadu Ibrahim confessed to kidnapping Alamin and taking him to Lijji Hill but later admitted to killing him when his father failed to pay the agreed ransom of N700,000.
