The Chandigarh Police Crime Branch in India announced the dismantling of an international drug syndicate, resulting in the arrest of three foreign nationals and the confiscation of 204.8 grams of crystal methamphetamine, commonly known as ice.
The apprehended suspects, identified on Tuesday, April 2, are Frank Nwokeji, Loua, and Jack David llobi Tochukwu, all Nigerian nationals residing in New Delhi.
Loua, previously detained in 2019 under the NDPS Act for possession of 207 grams of heroin, is currently out on bail but was re-arrested for involvement in drug-related activities. Similarly, David had prior encounters with law enforcement and had been arrested by the Delhi Police on previous occasions.
According to police reports, a team from the crime branch, led by Inspector Ashok Kumar, received intelligence on March 30 indicating the arrival of three Africans involved in drug trafficking in Chandigarh with a significant quantity of narcotics.
It was revealed that the suspects had entered India on medical and business visas for short stays but became embroiled in illicit drug trafficking, overstaying their visas after expiration. Further investigations uncovered that the suspects procured the contraband from their home country at lower prices and sold them at inflated rates in discos, pubs, and bars in the Tricity area.
Authorities disclosed that the investigation into the case is ongoing, with efforts aimed at apprehending additional members of the drug syndicate.
