Police Inspector Adabo Mohammed has been dismissed from the force due to his alleged involvement in robbery and kidnapping activities in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). According to Muyiwa Adejobi, the spokesperson for the Nigeria Police Force, Mohammed and five accomplices were purported members of an armed robbery gang responsible for stealing N29.8 million during a robbery in the Gwagwalada area of Abuja. Additionally, Mohammed was implicated in the kidnapping of Ikechukwu Emmanuel Okafor in the Tunga Maje area, where a ransom of N4.4 million was collected. Adejobi stated that Mohammed has been charged to court. Furthermore, three inspectors, Osagie Efford, Semiu Agbekin, and Francis Ahuen, were demoted to the rank of sergeant by the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, for alleged extortion. The officers, attached to the Special Tactical Squad (STS) in the FCT, reportedly forced occupants of an unregistered Mercedes Benz in Gwarinpa to part with N29.4 million. Despite the return of the money to the complainants, the officers faced disciplinary action and were demoted following an orderly room trial.
