An individual named Anosikwa Patrick tragically lost his life after being stabbed by a police officer at a shopping mall in the Ajah area of Lagos State.
The incident occurred on Saturday, April 20, 2024.
SP Benjamin Hundeyin, spokesperson of the Lagos State Police Command, confirmed the incident in a statement on Sunday. He identified the officer involved as Inspector Taofeek and assured the public that justice would be served.
“The Lagos State Police Command has initiated an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of Anosikwa Patrick, who was allegedly stabbed by a police officer at the Skymall shopping mall in Ajah on Saturday, April 20, 2024,” the statement read.
“The manager and chief security officer of the mall are currently in custody, assisting with the ongoing investigation. Meanwhile, the police officer has been identified as Inspector Taofeek, a member of the visiting 12 PMF squadron in Lagos.
“The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Adegoke Fayoade, mni, has directed detectives from the Homicide Section of the State Criminal Investigation Department to conduct a swift and thorough investigation to ensure that the perpetrator is brought to justice.
“Updates on the investigation will be provided to the public as it progresses.”
