The Minister of Sports Development, John Enoh, has affirmed the ministry’s commitment to promptly disbursing funds to prepare Nigerian athletes for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, scheduled to take place from July 26 to August 11 in Paris.
Enoh provided this assurance in Abuja through a statement released by his Special Assistant on Media, Diana-Mary Nsan. He emphasized that the ministry would actively seek partnerships with private individuals and the corporate sector to enhance financial support, ensuring that athletes receive the necessary resources for success.
Furthermore, Enoh outlined plans to introduce insurance coverage for Team Nigeria athletes, aiming to mitigate risks related to injuries and unforeseen events, thus demonstrating a proactive approach to athlete welfare.
Additionally, the minister disclosed intentions to institute salaries for grade A athletes, expressing confidence in Nigeria’s athletes and their potential for success at the Paris Olympic Games.
Notably, the Paris 2024 Olympic Games will mark the first instance where an equal number of male and female athletes will participate.
