On Friday, January 10, California experienced an earthquake as the state continued to fight deadly wildfires. A 3.7 magnitude quake was recorded near the San Francisco Bay Area at approximately 7:02 AM PT.

The U.S. Geological Survey reported that the earthquake occurred at a depth of 8.4 kilometers and struck three miles east of the San Francisco Zoo. Fortunately, no damage or injuries have been reported so far.

The tremor took place about 350 miles away from the Los Angeles area, where destructive wildfires have claimed at least 10 lives and forced 180,000 people to evacuate.

San Francisco Mayor Daniel Lurie responded to the incident, stating, “I promised to make the safety of San Franciscans my first priority as mayor, and I am keeping that promise today with this morning’s earthquake. I ordered city government into action immediately, and our first responders have been out across the city ensuring the safety of our residents.”

Meanwhile, wildfires have been ravaging Los Angeles County for several days, with reports of 10 fatalities and at least 10,000 homes and structures destroyed.
