Suspected bandits have seized Mr. Steven Ibrahim, the District Head of Kujama in Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State, along with two others. The incident took place on Sunday evening, November 12, around 7 pm, as the victims were leaving a reservation center behind Bethel Baptist School along the Kaduna-Kujama highway. A senior member of the local Joint Task Force (JTF) confirmed the abduction, revealing that the gunmen on motorcycles approached the district head and his companions at gunpoint. Eyewitnesses reported seeing them being transported into the bush by the bandits.
The Ardon Ardodi of Chikun Local Government, Ibrahim Saleh, also verified the unfortunate incident, expressing his hope for an end to such occurrences. In a separate event, suspected bandits attacked Kakangi Community in Birnin Gwari, resulting in two mobile policemen sustaining gunshot wounds. The assailants attempted to set fire to an Armoured Personnel Carrier vehicle belonging to the mobile policemen, but security forces managed to relocate the vehicle despite gunfire targeting the tires.
Ishaq Kasai, Chairman of Birnin Gwari Emirate Progressive Union, confirmed the incident, stating that the driver of the vehicle and another person sustained bullet injuries in their hands. The bandits, in this instance, intercepted farmers returning from their fields, demanding money before allowing them to proceed home. The injured mobile personnel are currently receiving treatment at Birnin Gwari Hospital, with calls for increased security presence in Kakangi ward and other areas close to the bandits’ camps.
In a separate incident, bandits invaded Laying Mahuta in Tabanni village, kidnapping three individuals – Musa Lawal, Ibrahim Sha’i, and Murtala Usman. The abduction occurred on Monday night when the bandits forcibly entered the victims’ residences and took them to an undisclosed location. As of now, the abductors have not contacted the families of the kidnapped individuals.
