Seven Killed by Gunmen in Nasarawa Community

Seven people have been confirmed dead, and several others injured of varying degrees in Karu Local Government Area of Nasarawa State following an attack by unidentified gunmen.

A statement released by the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) indicated that the incident took place in the Tattara community, Panda District, on the night of Saturday, January 11, 2025.

Dr. Onuk Oji Galadima, Chairman of the NYCN in Panda, expressed that the community is left devastated and overwhelmed with grief due to the tragic event.

Onuk offered condolences to the families of the victims and urged security agencies to take swift action to capture the perpetrators and bring them to justice.

“This senseless attack on innocent, unarmed citizens is unacceptable and must be condemned by all,” he said in a statement on Sunday. “While we call on the government to take decisive measures to ensure the safety of our communities, we also urge the public to stay vigilant, report any suspicious activities, and avoid taking the law into their own hands.”

He also requested adequate support for the affected families and the community.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the people of Tattara and other villages that have suffered similar attacks.”
