Grammy Award-winning rapper Doechii has been named Billboard’s 2025 Woman of the Year, the publication announced on Monday, March 10. She will be honored at an event later this month.

A rising star in the rap scene, Doechii has gained widespread popularity with viral hits like “No Scrubs” and “Denial is a River,” the latter of which peaked at No. 21 on the Hot 100.

In January, Doechii won her first-ever Grammy for her 2024 album Alligator Bites Never Heal in the Best Rap Album category, making her only the third woman in Grammy history to win this honor. She had also earned nominations for Best New Artist and Best Rap Performance.

That same night, she made her Grammy stage debut with an electrifying performance of “Denial is a River” and “Catfish.”

The Tampa-born artist has charted five songs on the Billboard Hot 100, including her collaborations with Tyler the Creator on “Balloon” and with Jennie on “ExtraL.”

In 2023, Doechii was recognized by Billboard with the Music Rising Star award. She is now the third woman to receive the Women of the Year title, following Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande.

Billboard’s editor-in-chief, Hannah Karp, praised Doechii’s “ultra-candid lyrics and utterly unique sound, style, and spirit.”

Past recipients of Billboard’s Woman of the Year honor include SZA, Billie Eilish, Madonna, and Taylor Swift, among others.

At the 2025 Women in Music event, where Doechii will be celebrated, other awards will be presented as well. Jennie will receive the Songwriter of the Year honor, Erykah Badu will be awarded the Breakthrough Award, and Meghan Trainor will take home the Hitmaker Award. Performers at the event will include Ángela Aguilar, aespa, GloRilla, Gracie Abrams, Megan Moroney, Muni Long, and Tyla.
