13 Players Assemble in Super Eagles Camp in Uyo for 2026 World Cup Qualifiers

The Super Eagles’ camp in Ikot Ikpene has welcomed 13 players as preparations intensify for Nigeria’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying matches against Rwanda and South Africa.

Team media officer Promise Efoghe confirmed the development on Tuesday, following the arrival of nine more players to join the initial four who checked in on Monday.

New arrivals include: Alex Iwobi, Calvin Bassey, Fisayo Dele-Bashiru, Ola Aina, Bright Osayi-Samuel, Moses Simon, Chidozie Awaziem, Adebayo Adeleye, and Benjamin Fredericks.

They joined William Troost-Ekong, Amas Obasogie, Felix Agu, and Raphael Onyedika, who were the first to arrive.

Out of the 23 invited players, 10 are still expected, including Stanley Nwabali, Bruno Onyemaechi, Wilfred Ndidi, Frank Onyeka, Victor Osimhen, Ademola Lookman, Samuel Chukwueze, Cyriel Dessers, Christantus Uche, and Tolu Arokodare.

Efoghe also shared details of the team’s media schedule:

1.A press conference with coaching staff and selected players will hold Wednesday at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium training pitch.

2.The pre-match press conference is scheduled for Friday at the same venue, with the first 15 minutes of training open to the media.

Nigeria will host Rwanda on Saturday at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo, for Matchday 7, before travelling to Bloemfontein to face South Africa on Monday for Matchday 8.

The Super Eagles currently sit third in Group C with two points from two matches, trailing South Africa and Rwanda, who have four points each. Only the top team in the group secures automatic qualification for the World Cup, which will be co-hosted by the U.S., Canada, and Mexico.
