The Department of State Services (DSS) has rearrested a wanted Ansaru terrorist, Abdulazeez Obadaki.

Obadaki was among the 879 inmates who escaped from the Kuje Custodial Centre in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, in 2022 after the facility was violently attacked by Islamic State–linked militants.

He is alleged to be the mastermind behind a series of criminal operations, including the coordinated bank attacks in Uromi, Edo State, and the fatal shooting at Deeper Life College in Okene, Kogi State.

A security source within the DSS confirmed the rearrest but declined to disclose further details about the operation.

This development comes nearly three months after the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, announced the arrest of two individuals identified as leaders of the Ansaru terrorist group.
