Nigerian singer and songwriter Bloody Civilian has said that marriage is not currently a priority in her life, despite repeated pressure and questions from family members.
Speaking in a recent interview with NotjustOk, the artiste explained that one of the ongoing challenges she faces within her family is their difficulty in understanding her outlook on life as a modern musician, particularly in relation to traditional expectations placed on women from Northern Nigeria.
According to her, while marriage frequently comes up in family discussions, it is not something she is focused on at this stage of her life.
“One thing my family still does not understand about being an artist is the fact that certain conventional things that they expect of a woman from the North are simply not things I’m excited to do,” she said.
She added that marriage is not currently on her mind, even though the topic continues to be raised.
“For instance, marriage is not something that I am thinking of at all, but that question keeps being brought up,” she said.
