Micheal Ighodaro, a Nigerian advocate for gay rights, is poised to marry his Armenian-American partner, Jirair Ratevosian.

A public health expert who proudly identifies himself as “the first African-born gay man living with HIV to co-lead a global organization,” he publicly disclosed this on October 4, 2023. In his statement, he said, “In just 5 days, I will say ‘I do’ to an extraordinary person, transcending the challenges that love faces on a global scale. I am thankful for the imminent day when I can officially call them my spouse. Our wedding is poised to ignite crucial conversations within our respective nations, as we are unwavering in our belief that love prevails over all.”
