Bandits have reportedly abducted an unspecified number of Tsangaya students at Gidan Bakuso in Gada local government area of Sokoto state.
According to reports from DailyTrust, the students were kidnapped from their school around 1:00 am on Saturday, March 9.
Liman Abubakar, the proprietor of the school, stated that 15 students are currently unaccounted for, but they are still tallying the exact number.
Abubakar explained that the bandits attacked the town around 1:00 am, injuring one person and kidnapping a woman. As they were leaving, they noticed students rushing into their rooms and abducted many of them.
“This is not the first time the village has been attacked by bandits,” Abubakar added.
Kabiru Dauda, the member representing Gada-East Constituency at the state House of Assembly, confirmed the attack and stated that he received a distress call from the village around 2:00 am. He assured that local government authorities and security agencies are actively responding to the situation.
