American singer Britney Spears has firmly declared that she will “never return to the music industry” amidst swirling rumors about her potential comeback to the studio.
Responding to reports in the US media suggesting she was gearing up for a 10th studio album and considering collaborations with songwriters like Julia Michaels and Charlie XCX, Spears took to Instagram on January 3 to set the record straight. Accompanying a post featuring a Guido Reni painting of the biblical story of Salome holding John the Baptist’s head on a tray, she clarified, “Just so we’re clear most of the news is trash!” She refuted claims of planning a new album, asserting, “I will never return to the music industry!!!”
Spears emphasized that her songwriting endeavors are purely for enjoyment or on behalf of others, stating, “When I write, I write for fun or I write for other people!!!” She disclosed having written “over 20 songs for other people in the past two years” and expressed her satisfaction as a ghostwriter.
In the same post, Spears addressed another rumor regarding her 2023 memoir, “The Woman In Me,” asserting that it was not released without her approval, terming such claims as “far from the truth.”
