No. 279495 and Inspector Ogunleye Stephen with AP. No. 223521. Both officers, stationed at the Zonal Command Headquarters in Onikan, Lagos, were terminated due to their involvement in armed robbery, official corruption, and unauthorized duty.

According to a statement released by SP. UMMA TUNNI AYUBA, the Zone 2 PRO, the dismissed officers, already facing trial for similar offenses, engaged in an illegal operation on November 23, 2023, at approximately 2200hrs. Accompanied by three others, two members of a Vigilante Group (Semiu Afisu and Abidoye Femi) and a driver named Charles John, they visited the residence of Taiwo Monsuru and Akintola Sunday in Obada-Oko, Ogun State. Armed with 2 SMG rifles and live ammunition, they conducted an unwarranted search, resulting in the theft of 5 iPhones, 1 Samsung smartphone, 1 Tecno smartphone, and 2 laptop computers.

The statement revealed that police officers from Ifo Division established a roadblock based on information provided by other residents, leading to the apprehension of the vehicle’s occupants, excluding ASP Ajayi Victor, who led the illegal operation and is currently at large.

AIG Ali has instructed that the dismissed officers, along with the civilians involved, be charged to court. He emphasized the importance of professionalism among all officers and urged them to adhere to the law in the discharge of their duties. Any deviation from the prescribed conduct will result in accountability for their actions or inactions.
