A Rivers State High Court sitting in Port Harcourt has ordered the remand of four suspects in a correctional facility over their alleged involvement in the kidnapping and murder of a retired headteacher.

The defendants—Emmanuel Eke, Ogechi Ogbogu (also known as “United”), Charles Anayor (“Biggie”), and Nelson Isaiah—are facing a three-count charge of conspiracy, kidnapping, and murder.

According to the prosecution, the accused, along with others still at large, conspired in 2012 to abduct Eugene Ndubuisi Orlu Orlu in the Ubima community, Ikwerre Local Government Area. The suspects allegedly collected a ransom of fifteen million naira, murdered the victim, concealed his body in a sack, and buried him in a forest between neighboring communities.

All four pleaded not guilty when the charges were read in court.

No bail application was submitted, and presiding judge, Justice Augusta Kingsley-Chukwu, ordered their remand at the Port Harcourt Correctional Facility.

The case has been adjourned to May 20 and 27, 2025, for the commencement of accelerated hearing.
