Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have apprehended Prophet Adefolusho Aanu Olasele, also known as Abbas Ajakaiye, founder and General Overseer of The Turn of Mercy Church, for masterminding multiple shipments of illegal drugs into Nigeria.

The agency’s spokesperson, Femi Babafemi, disclosed in a statement on Sunday, August 10, 2025, that the suspect was arrested after months of evading capture abroad.

“Prophet Adefolusho was arrested at his church in Okun Ajah, Ogombo Road, Lekki, Lagos, on Sunday, August 3, 2025. NDLEA officers had been monitoring him throughout the day, waiting for the conclusion of the Sunday worship service before apprehending him as he exited the church premises,” the statement read.

The arrest followed the suspect’s two previous failed attempts to evade law enforcement. After initially fleeing to Ghana in June, he was linked to the seizure of two large shipments of ‘Ghana Loud,’ a strain of cannabis.

The first seizure occurred on June 4, 2025, at Okun Ajah beach, where 200 kilograms of the illicit substance were recovered. A second shipment weighing 700 kilograms was intercepted from a delivery van on July 6, 2025.

In his statement to investigators, Prophet Adefolusho confessed to transporting the drug consignments via waterways from Ghana into Nigeria. He also admitted fleeing to Ghana to avoid arrest after escaping capture twice in recent months.
