Gunmen abduct prominent community leader in Benue

Gunmen have abducted Deacon Emmanuel Tor Yaji, the leader of the Kunav United Development Association, in Benue State.

Yaji was kidnapped on Monday, December 30, 2024, around 10 pm at his home in Tsar Mbaduku, located in the Vandeikya Local Government Area, while he was relaxing with friends.

Benue State Police spokesperson, Catherine Anene, confirmed the abduction and called on the public to provide any information that could help in securing Yaji’s release.

“On 30/12/2024, at about 8:30 pm, we received information at the Vandeikya Police Division that Mr. Emmanuel Tor Yaji was abducted at Tsar while sitting with his friends,” Anene said.

“Police detectives were immediately dispatched for his rescue, and an investigation is underway.

“We encourage anyone with useful information to come forward. Further updates will be provided as the investigation progresses.”
