The Niger State Public Relations Officer of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), DSC Ibrahim Rabiu, was st@bbed by hoodlums on Friday night while returning home from work in Minna.
Rabiu was attacked in a tricycle, commonly known as Keke Napep, near the Federal Housing Estate in Gbeganu, a suburb of Minna.
According to Rabiu, the incident took place around 8 p.m. when nine hoodlums armed with knives, cutlasses, daggers, and sticks ambushed him inside the tricycle. He sustained two st@b wounds to his stomach, but he credited his uniform for preventing more severe injuries.“I was inside the tricycle after other passengers had dropped off, and as we stopped to pick up two more people, these boys rushed out from a nearby bush and attacked me. They st@bbed me and took away my phone and other valuables,” Rabiu recounted. He added that one of the assailants noticed his uniform trousers, alerting the others that he was a uniformed officer, which led them to abandon him with his injuries.
Rabiu was treated at the hospital and has since been discharged, now recovering at home. Authorities are investigating the incident, and the NSCDC has assured that measures will be taken to prevent similar attacks on security personnel.
