On Tuesday, March 5, 2024, operatives from the Maiduguri Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) conducted a successful operation, intercepting 21 trucks loaded with food and non-food items destined for N’djamena, Chad Republic, Central African Republic, and Cameroon.

The interception took place at key exit points along the Kalabiri/Gamboru Ngala and Bama roads in Borno State. Through vigilant surveillance, EFCC operatives discovered food items cleverly concealed within the trucks, which would have otherwise gone undetected.

Further scrutiny revealed that the Waybills accompanying the goods indicated their intended destinations as N’djamena, Chad Republic, Central Africa Republic, and Cameroon respectively.

The arrest of these trucks is a significant step towards addressing food insecurity caused by the illicit activities of smugglers across the nation.
