Former U.S. First Lady Michelle Obama has officially debunked rumors of her potential candidacy for the Democratic slot in the 2024 U.S. presidential elections.

In a statement released on Tuesday, March 5, Michelle Obama’s office swiftly quashed any speculation about her running for the White House, aiming to put an end to ongoing conjecture regarding her potential challenge to President Joe Biden’s nomination.

“As former First Lady Michelle Obama has reiterated on multiple occasions over the years, she will not be running for president,” stated communications director Crystal Carson to NBC News. “Mrs. Obama fully supports President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris’ re-election campaign.”

Former President Barack Obama has strongly endorsed Biden in his anticipated rematch against former President Donald Trump, affirming his unwavering support for his former vice president.

Michelle Obama has consistently dismissed the idea of a presidential bid in the past, emphasizing the challenges and personal commitment required for a political career. In a conversation with Oprah Winfrey during her Netflix special “The Light We Carry” last year, she remarked, “Politics is hard. You’ve got to want it. It’s got to be in your soul because it is so important. It is not in my soul.”

A recent Rasmussen survey revealed that just under half of Democrats are open to replacing Biden as the party’s nominee.

Michelle Obama has also expressed concerns about the potential return of Trump to the Oval Office, emphasizing the significant impact of political leadership on the nation. During a podcast in January, she voiced her apprehensions, stating, “I’m terrified about what could possibly happen because our leaders matter. Who we select, who speaks for us, who holds that bully pulpit, it affects us in ways sometimes I think people take for granted.”
