Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps has warned it may target American university campuses in the Middle East following recent U.S.-Israeli strikes that it claims damaged Iranian academic institutions.
According to Iranian media, the Guard said U.S.-affiliated universities in the region could face retaliation if Washington does not respond to the incident.
“If the U.S. government wants its universities in the region to be safe from retaliation, it must officially condemn the bombing of the universities by 12 noon on Monday, March 30, Tehran time,” the statement said.
It also issued a warning to people in and around such institutions, advising staff, students, and nearby residents to stay at least one kilometer away from campuses.
The threat comes after strikes in Tehran between Friday and Saturday reportedly hit facilities including the University of Science and Technology, damaging buildings but causing no casualties. Several American universities operate campuses across the Gulf, such as Texas A&M University in Qatar and New York University in the United Arab Emirates.
The situation reflects rising tensions in the region, with growing concerns that potential targets could extend beyond conventional military sites.
