Jamie Stevens, 51, has been sentenced to prison after concealing the body of his ex-girlfriend, 36-year-old Anouska Sites, in his home for more than two years.

Anouska died at Stevens’ flat on Upton Road, Torquay, in early 2022. Instead of reporting her death, Stevens hid her remains under a blanket.

When police began searching for Anouska—who was reported missing on April 10, 2025—Stevens falsely claimed he hadn’t seen her for months. The last confirmed sighting of Anouska was on May 21, 2022, though Stevens told officers she had disappeared earlier.

Despite repeated police visits, no one answered at Stevens’ flat. On May 27, officers forced entry and discovered Anouska’s body. Stevens admitted he found her dead in January 2023 after they spent the night together but chose to cover her with a blanket rather than notify emergency services.

He told investigators he knew he should have called for help but could not explain why he didn’t, acknowledging that his explanation “didn’t sound right.”

Detective Inspector Jeanne Hellyer said: “Anouska was denied the dignity and right of a lawful burial by Stevens. My thoughts remain with her family and friends, who can now lay her to rest.” Police confirmed Anouska’s death is not being treated as suspicious.

At Exeter Crown Court on August 11, Stevens was sentenced to 14 months in prison for preventing the lawful burial of a body, alongside an eight-month concurrent sentence for perverting the course of justice.
