The nation was plunged into darkness as the centrally managed national electricity grid, operated from Osogbo, Osun State, experienced a collapse at approximately 4:30 pm on Thursday, March 28.
In the aftermath of the collapse, distribution companies across the country, covering all 36 states, reported that their feeders became inactive, leading to widespread blackouts.
Prior to the collapse, the grid output was at 2984 megawatts as of 4 pm. However, by 5 pm, all 21 plants connected to the grid had ceased operations, resulting in a complete shutdown of power supply nationwide. This incident marks the fourth occurrence of a grid collapse so far this year.
