Vice President Kashim Shettima, speaking at the 29th pre-Ramadan lecture organized by the University of Lagos (UNILAG) Muslim Alumni, called on Nigerians to voice their grievances over the country’s hardship in a responsible and mature manner.

Represented by his special adviser on political matters, Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, Shettima emphasized that the current administration would have opted for easier alternatives to its recent policies if they were viable.

He acknowledged the difficult choices faced by the government in adopting policies that may disproportionately affect the poor, attributing the country’s current challenges to past decisions.

Shettima stressed the administration’s commitment to fixing the country, despite the tough decisions and sacrifices required. He appealed to Nigerians to provide constructive criticism and scrutiny, acknowledging that progress can only be achieved through informed discourse.

The Vice President also recognized the upcoming Ramadan period and acknowledged the severe challenges it may bring for many Nigerians.
