
The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Jigawa State Command, has arrested a suspected scrap dealer for allegedly possessing vandalized electrical cables.
The Command’s Public Relations Officer, ASC Badruddeen Tijjani Mahmud, disclosed this in a statement issued on Monday, March 9, 2026.
According to the statement, the suspect, Muhd Adamu, 50, a resident of Maruwa town in Kafin Hausa Local Government Area of Jigawa State, was arrested on Wednesday, March 4, at about 3:00 p.m.
Mahmud said that during the arrest, NSCDC operatives recovered an aluminium cable measuring about 267 metres, estimated to be worth N573,300.
Preliminary investigations indicated that the cable was allegedly brought to the suspect’s residence for safekeeping by two accomplices identified as Sani and Auwalu, both from Ruba village in Kafin Hausa LGA, who are currently on the run.
The suspect remains in custody while security operatives continue efforts to track down and arrest the fleeing suspects.
Reacting to the incident, the State Commandant of the NSCDC in Jigawa State warned individuals involved in the vandalism of Critical National Assets and Infrastructure to desist from such activities or face the full weight of the law.
He also urged members of the public to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious activities around public infrastructure to security agencies across the state.
The command reiterated its commitment to protecting critical national assets and ensuring the safety of lives and property throughout Jigawa State.
