Operatives of the Nigeria Police Force have apprehended a member of a notorious armed robbery and kidnapping syndicate linked to the death of CSP Hassan Jega, the Divisional Police Officer of Agbarho Division in Delta State.
CSP Jega was killed during a gun battle between his team and the assailants on October 14, 2024, while carrying out a rescue operation. The Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, confirmed this in a statement on Monday, January 6, 2025.
According to Adejobi, the Force Intelligence Department’s Intelligence Response Team (IRT) arrested the suspect, Ogaga Dickson, on November 1, 2024. He also revealed that four members of the gang had been neutralized during a previous raid on their hideout.
“The operatives had earlier stormed the gang’s den and engaged them in a fierce gun duel, leading to the neutralization of four gang members,” Adejobi stated.
Upon Ogaga’s arrest, the police recovered one AK-47 rifle, one English pistol, one locally made pistol, various types of ammunition, and six luxury vehicles.
The statement further noted, “Ogaga Dickson, 35 years old, is a member of the armed robbery syndicate responsible for the death of CSP Hassan Jega, the DPO of Agbarho Division, Delta State. Jega was killed during a fierce gun battle with a team of police officers who had foiled one of the gang’s robbery operations.”
