Kidnappers have killed prominent Benue farmer and businessman, Terzungwe Shaku, shortly after receiving a N5.4 million ransom from his family.

Shaku was abducted just before the New Year in Akor village, located in Nzorov Council Ward of Guma Local Government Area, and was held captive for over two weeks.

According to local sources, the kidnappers initially demanded N20 million, but after negotiations, the family paid the agreed amount of N5.4 million.

As news of the killing spread, residents of Akor and surrounding villages in Nzorov Council Ward have begun fleeing the area out of fear of further attacks.

Sources also revealed that the gunmen shot Shaku shortly after his family left the designated drop-off point. Upon hearing gunshots, the family rushed back, only to find his lifeless body.

Benue State Police Command spokesperson, SP Catherine Anene, confirmed she had no information about the incident at the time.
